Pilot Funding Opportunity: One Year Up to $75,000 for Research

April 26, 2023 by NYSAM

One year of pilot funding of up to $75,000 for research into chronic pain and opioid use disorder

IMPOWR-ME is a NIH HEAL Initiative funded Research Center (RM1DA055437) to develop and test integrated treatments for people who have chronic pain and opioid use disorder (OUD) or opioid misuse, with the goal of improving their health, health care, and well-being. To encourage research in this area, they are pleased to announce the opportunity to apply for an IMPOWR-ME Pilot Project Award with details in the RFA for one year of pilot funding of up to $75,000 for research into chronic pain and opioid use disorder (OUD)/opioid misuse, due June 2, 2023.

A major goal of the IMPOWR -ME Pilot Project program is to stimulate collaborative research that is valued by people with lived experience with chronic pain and OUD, and by other community partners. Research that fulfills this goal may look very different than traditional research. They encourage innovation and creativity, as long as the application follows the instructions below.

They strongly encourage:
Early stage investigators (ESIs) and researchers new to studying chronic pain and OUD.
Innovative approaches to research, including the involvement of community members, people with lived experience, and/or non faculty members as co-PIs with faculty members and fellows.
Researchers from backgrounds under-represented in science.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact:

Julia H. Arnsten, MD, MPH
Chief, General Internal Medicine Division
Department of Medicine
Professor of Medicine, Psychiatry, Epidemiology

Contact Julia Arnsten here or here.

Best regards,
Harris Goldstein
