Alcohol is a legal substance that causes central nervous system depression. When taken in excess, it can cause serious consequences such as reduced inhibitions, slurred speech, motor impairment, confusion, memory problems, coma, and even death. Long term excessive use of alcohol can negatively affect all organs in the body, including increasing the risk of cancer.
