Harm reduction

Harm reduction is an evidence-based approach to decrease harm and promote healthier behaviors in people who use drugs. It strives to reduce the health and socio-economic consequences of drug use for individuals and communities. Examples of harm reduction strategies include needle exchange programs, safe injection sites, and the distribution of opioid antagonists such as Naloxone.

NYSAM advocates for the expansion of evidence-based harm reduction strategies across New York State.
