This clinical education program is provided by the Mount Sinai Institute for Advanced Medicine Clinical Education Initiative (CEI)‘s Hepatitis C and Drug User Health Center of Excellence, and funded through the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute. In collaboration with REACH Medical, it is designed to provide an intensive experience focused on the implementation of harm reduction via telemedicine for practicing clinicians based in New York State. No travel is required for this remote program.
Program Expectations
- Attend Preceptorship Program launch webinar April 29, 2022 9:30-10:30am
- Complete pre-recorded CEI trainings prior to clinical shadowing
- Attend half-day remote (virtual) clinical experience May 02-13, 2022
- Attend Preceptorship Program close webinar May 20, 2022 1:00-2:00pm
Through a combination of web-based didactic trainings and remote experiential education, preceptees will gain an in-depth understanding of methods to apply a harm reduction approach via telemedicine to establish relationships and ensure patients feel safe and valued when they access remote services. Buprenorphine and harm reduction via telemedicine will be the most common aspects of clinical service during shadowing.

Accepted applicants will need to provide documentation of annual HIPPA compliance training and 42 CFR Part II completion, and receive permission from their supervisor to participate.
