Submit a Proposal

Who Should Submit?
Attending physicians, fellows, residents, medical students as well as non-physician associate member professionals who currently provide clinical care or support services, teach, or conduct research with people at risk for or living with addiction in New York State or surrounding areas are eligible to submit a proposal.Non physician associate member professionals include: NP, PA, RN, LPN, Pharmacists, Psychologists, LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, CASAC, CRPA. See website for more details on associated professions.

Presentation Types:
Submissions will be considered for a workshop session (60 mins), oral presentation (15-20 mins), or poster presentation (during poster session). Please indicate in your submission form which type you would like your proposal to be considered for (can include all 3).

Content Categories:
Proposals related to addiction medicine may be submitted in the following categories (choose one of the following):

  • Research (e.g. clinical, implementation science, health services research)
  • Clinical case study or case series
  • Curricula, quality improvement, and program innovations
  • Public policy and systems advocacy

Format/Submission:
Please use the specific format for each category below:

  • For clinical research – title, background, objective, research methods, results and conclusion
  • For clinical case study or case series – title, background, objective, clinical case description, discussion, and conclusion (no patient identifying information should be included)
  • For curricula, quality improvement and program innovations – title, background, objective, innovation description, outcomes, and conclusion
  • For public policy and systems advocacy – title, background, objectives, policy approach or advocacy strategy, results, and conclusion
  • For any proposal that you wish to be considered for an interactive workshop session, please also describe how you would structure the workshop should your abstract be selected. Proposals will be prioritized for having clearly identified learning objectives, opportunities for participant engagement, and skill-based learning that can be carried forward for participants’ home institutions and communities.

Please also ensure the following when submitting your abstracts:

  • Do not exceed abstract limit of 400 words
  • Submit as a word document or PDF uploaded to this form
  • All presenters/speakers must be submitted (full name/contact info, headshot, bio, and disclosure) via this form. 

Selection for Workshop, Oral and Poster Presentations:
We will be selecting top scoring proposals for 60 min workshops or 15-20 mins oral presentations at the NYSAM Annual Conference on March 11th-12th 2027. 

In order to support training and interprofessional collaboration as an important part of our NYSAM community, we will prioritize workshops and oral presentations from the following categories of submission authors (in no particular order):

  • Students and residents
  • Addiction medicine/psychiatry/medical toxicology fellows
  • Nurse practitioners and physician assistants
  • Non-physician associate member professionals

Proposals will also be scored and selected for poster presentations during the annual conference.

Deadline:

All abstracts must be submitted via this form by Sunday, November 15, 2026.

Winners will be notified, via email, by Monday, Dec 14, 2026.
